foundation for understanding Critical Illness Insurance
is the first step toward success in sales. This session
is divided into three sections: First, a general
overview of critical illness is provided - definition,
historical perspective, product design, and a U.S.
market overview. Second, an insurance carrier will
discuss the market potential for the product and discuss
why, as a carrier, they are so passionate to see the
product be successful here in the US. Third, critical
illness from a producer’s perspective - why sell this
product and how you can be successful selling
it. Time will be provided at the end of the
presentations to address your

Successful sales of
Critical Illness insurance can be enhanced by
knowing when to sell it as a substitute for: ·
Cancer Insurance · Disability Insurance ·
Health Insurance There are gaps in the above
coverages that can be bridged by Critical Illness
Insurance – and some of the gaps are
wide. However, there are sales situations when
your sales strategy will call for Critical Illness
as a supplement to these other coverages. This
presentation will cover using Critical Illness
Insurance as a “substitute/supplement”
product. | |

with: · High deductible health plans ·

Affluent or Highly-compensated • Mortgage
Protection • As a Replacement/Subsidy for
DI • In conjunction with Major Medical and

Supplemental benefits
are becoming more widely accepted as a solution
within the overall employee benefits marketplace.
However, make no mistake, these products are still
‘sold’, not ‘bought’. During this session we’ll
explore how Critical Illness is being positioned
with our three primary constituents in the sales
process.
Meeting the sales
challenge relative to:
- Marketing CI to
employee benefits brokers
- Positioning CI as a
viable benefit within an employer’s overall
benefits package
- Introducing CI to
employee
- Industry Trends
- Health Care Trends
- How to introduce the
concept to the brokerage distribution
- In addition, a
broker and enrollment firm will share their
perspectives and offer case studies to
illustrate their success in marketing CI as a
voluntary employee benefit
This should be a very
interactive discussion around the realities of
actual sales scenarios from a carrier, broker, and
benefit communication / enrollment
perspective. |

Did You Know... that
Gaylord Perry won 15 straight games for the
Cleveland Indians in 1974? Gaylord Perry achieved
two of pitching's most magical milestones with 314
wins and 3,534 strikeouts. Distracting and
frustrating hitters through an array of rituals on
the mound, he was a 20-game winner five times and
posted a 3.10 lifetime ERA. With the Giants in
1968, Perry no-hit the Cardinals and starter Bob
Gibson. An outstanding competitor, he won Cy Young
awards in 1972 with Cleveland and with San Diego
in ‘78, becoming the first pitcher to win the
award in both leagues. Hall of Fame Teammate: Juan

Quotes
- Going back down
to the minors is the toughest thing to handle in
baseball.
- I reckon I tried
everything on the old apple, but salt and pepper
and chocolate sauce topping.
- I'd always have
grease in at least two places, in case the
umpires would ask me to wipe one off. I never
wanted to be caught out there with anything
though, it wouldn't be professional.
- I've got a kid
six years old. He likes sports, but I definitely
won't let him pitch. There would be too many
things against him.
- Primarily, every
rule change over the past ten years has been
against the pitchers - lowering the mound and
the designated hitter.
- The trouble with
baseball is that it is not played the year
round.
- Wait until Tommy
Lasorda meets the Lord and finds out that He's
wearing pinstripes.
"Gaylord was fantastic,
simply fantastic. Gaylord's contributions were
even greater than the records show - and they show
plenty. He was such a great influence on the
younger players; nobody except those who were
close to the club really knows. Perry was far and
away the best pitcher in the American League."
